client: The Health Dimensions Story Before "workplace wellness" became a national catchphrase, Health Dimensions was there pioneering the way. Our visionary founder, Rodell Jackson, started San Diego’s first health fair company as a home-based business over sixteen years ago, while she was still a single mother raising two teenage sons. And from those humble beginnings, Health Dimensions has risen as the premier coordinator of employee health fairs and corporate wellness programs today. A history of innovation It all began in the early nineties when Rodell was working as a corporate trainer teaching stress and weight management skills to employees at area corporations. She saw an urgent need to take the message of living a healthy, balanced lifestyle to a broader audience, and she had an idea. Why not coordinate employee health fairs and hold them onsite in the workplace? Company health fairs were virtually unknown at the time, but Rodell felt strongly that it was an idea whose time had come. In the spring of 1992, Rodell introduced the health fair concept in San Diego, and ran Health Dimensions out of her home with the help of just one employee. That first year in business, they coordinated health fairs for fifty local employers, including well-known names such as The Home Depot, Cubic Corporation, Solar Turbines, and the City of Oceanside. A commitment to customer service From the start, Rodell made customer loyalty the company’s primary focus, and that dedication to service helped Health Dimensions grow by leaps and bounds over the next few years. The company soon expanded to Orange County, and the expansion heralded other new service offerings as well. First, a self-published health magazine, The Connection: Your Guide to Better Living, and then a monthly healthy-tip email newsletter were developed to keep the message of health and wellness in front of employees year-round. Much to her surprise (and delight), Rodell’s sons asked to join the company shortly after they graduated from college. Chad and Shawn share their mother’s pioneering spirit, commitment to customer service, and visionary leadership, and within a few short years the two helped further expand the company to the Phoenix and Dallas territories. A leader in workplace wellness Today, more than 250,000 people a year attend Heath & Lifestyle Expos coordinated by Health Dimensions. Our company employs a staff of twenty-two, and we’ve grown into a successful, thriving, and expanding business that proclaims the message of health and wellness to working men and women in three states. Health Dimensions recently extended our corporate wellness programs to the Los Angeles area and welcomed Daryl Hawkins to our team. The former Director of Corporate Wellness for 24 Hour Fitness now serves as our Senior Vice President and works side-by-side with Rodell, ensuring that her vision for the business and dedication to her customers continue to remain the company’s top priorities. As the leader in our industry, Health Dimensions has the experience and know-how it takes to create a well-rounded wellness program for our clients and their employees.
